2024 Bough Laying

Each December, holiday boughs are placed on all the gravesites at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery (SVNC) in honor of our veterans resting there.  This tradition began in 2006 when the cemetery opened and it is one of the few in the country to have 100% coverage each year.  To reach that goal again this year, we will need to purchase 35,000 boughs.  Funds are collected year-round and boughs are purchased in advance; the public is invited to help place the boughs. 

Volunteers are welcome at SVNC in December to assist with placements starting at 7:30 AM.  Exact date is TBA.  There will also be a Wreaths Across America program that same day starting at 9:00 AM, and that is open to the public.  Carpooling is encouraged and SVNC staff will be directing parking within the cemetery.  Check the website for frequent updates or Facebook page: Wreath Project (Sacramento Valley National Cemetery).  Volunteers of all ages are welcome.  Adult and teen volunteers are needed on the Friday before, to help unload trucks at the cemetery, starting at 3:00 PM; watch the website, email and FB for detailed updates.

For families and friends wanting a more private placement, boughs will be available for pick up at the following locations.  You may pick up a bough and place it any time before the public.  You will notice that this year there will be an early pick up location at the cemetery and it will be a drive-thru station again.  You do not need to donate to participate.  Call or text 707.249.5852 for any questions.
